[표현] elephant in the room

“the elephant in the room” is a an idiom for an important or enormous topic, question, or controversial issue that is obvious or that everyone knows about but no one mentions or wants to discuss because it makes at least some of them uncomfortable and is personally, socially, or politically embarrassing, controversial, inflammatory, or dangerous.
아주 obvious하거나 사람들이 다들 아는, 중요하거나 큰 주제/문제/이슈인데, 아무도 언급하거나 discuss하고 싶지 않은 것 (몇몇한테는 개인적이든, 사회적이든, 정치적이든, 논쟁적이든, 불편하기 때문)
